Feburary 2023 Update

It's an OptiMyst Thing

February, despite being the shortest month, was packed full of OptiMyst work, here is a short summary of the month that was! Crisis Management We had a continued intake of survivors requiri

ng emotional support, guidance and simply having someone who cares to help them negotiate their crisis.

Through our #PhoenixRising Campaign we managed to get some assistance for survivors in need. We still have a few needs outstanding if you are interested in assisting or have an idea how we can facilitate assistance.

We have a survivor in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) who is struggling with food to get through to the end of the month, as well as a bed and other household needs. The good news is she starts working in April and so things are looking up. We managed to get furniture donated but are still looking for a way to get it transported from Durban to Gqeberha.

With the economic climate, we know there is a lot of need for food, jobs, clothing etc. We will continue posting those on OptiMyseSA through our Phoenix Rising Campaign, and help where we can but we are not in the business of handouts - rather hand-ups. If you see a post and can assist we will give details of who to help directly to you and will be very grateful, but we caution all survivors that this is NOT our line and we cannot possibly add it to our list of services. Court Support We have assisted with online court support (some in person) on a number of cases. Some of these are ongoing and some are new. Are hearts reach out to these survivors negotiating a traumatizing system. For court support: https://forms.office.com/r/YeTvT5e6Pc Long Term Healing We have noticed an upswing in out OptiMysing Together group and it is amazing to see the growth of survivors working together to heal.

We are extremely grateful to Trailer Rescue 24 (https://g.co/kgs/zspKgZ) and Blue Viking carpentry, Quantum Stream (Pty) Ltd and all the individuals who drop whatever they can afford, thank you for stepping up to the plate again! In the long run we are aiming for sustainability, so please check out our Healing OptiMysts Membership opportunities, workshops, courses and training all coming up this year. "My Journey, My Way" book profits help fund the organization, so if you haven't bought a copy you can buy one off Amazon or inbox us for local sales. Volunteers We have to thank our contingent of volunteers who willingly give of their time and energy to assist with everything from making calls or holding space for other to packing boxes. We appreciate you! Crew Last, but never least we want to send a special shout out to the OptiMyst Crew. Dedicated, committed and always OptiMystic we are honoured to ride alongside you! All in all, February has been OptiMysed and we are already hard at work OptiMysing March. Celeste Louw (Vice President)
